eGMD - Epigenetics in Metabolic Diseases // 3rd LIMIOR - Leipzig International Meeting for Interdisciplinary Obesity Research taking place from 11 to 13 December 2019

Metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes are of a complex nature making the identification of factors driving the development and progression a huge challenge. During the past two decades, big genome wide studies successfully identified genes involved in the pathophysiology of metabolic diseases. However, only a small proportion of the heritability can be explained so far. Therefore focusing on additional factors such as epigenetics and the environmental impact helps to unwind the complexity and opens the view on mechanisms and pathways. But most importantly understanding of how these factors interact and contribute to the pathophysiology of metabolic diseases, the eGMD is meant to learn and discuss following questions: Beside the genetic risk, what can we learn from the genetic architecture, non-coding factors and epigenetic modifications in obesity and related diseases? How are environmental factors involved in gene regulation? And how can we translate this knowledge into diagnosis, prognosis up to prevention and treatment strategies? Having an exclusive list of renowned speakers, the eGMD aims to bring cutting edge knowledge together and especially invites young enthusiastic scientists to join this meeting and aim for fruitful discussions.

Registration / Application

Please register with the following form for the eGMD-Meeting. There is no registration fee. If you wish to apply for a presentation of your research results to be part of the meeting's program, please fill in the form including the abstract part. If you just want to attend the meeting, it is sufficient to fill in the first page. Our Scientists Prof. Kovacs, Dr. Keller or Dr. Rohde will inform you whether you will have the possibility to present your research, if you have submitted an abstract. Registration is possible up until 10 November 2019.

Please download and safe the form before filling it in. It is not possible to complete it online. Please send the completed form to the following email address: egmd-meeting [at] ifb-adipositas [dot] de . You will receive a confirmation of your registration shortly afterwards.

Attention! Especially for junior scientists: Apply for a travel grant!

The IFB awards up to four travel grants for outstanding junior researchers, including travel expenses and accomodation. If you want to apply for one of the travel grants, you have to apply with an abstract and you have to check in the box below below the abstract. Prof. Kovacs, Dr. Keller and Dr. Rohde will evaluate the submitted abstracts and will inform you in due time whether you will be awarded a travel grant.
